Adblue pumps

To meet the Euro 5 directive on emissions introduced in 2009, levels of nitrogen oxides from diesel engines must be substantially reduced.

One way of doing this is to install an SCR system on the vehicle. SCR is Selective Catalytic Reduction and is a means of converting nitrogen oxides back to nitrogen and water.

This system uses a urea solution and a catalyst. The truck is fitted with an extra tank for the urea.

The urea solution called AdBlue™ can be tricky to transfer because it must not get contaminated with foreign substances that can spoil the catalytic process and render the whole system useless. Also it is a highly concentrated solution and crystals of urea can build up in the pumping system, damage the pump fittings and so contaminate the solution.

So, special pumps need to be used to make sure that the liquid is not contaminated.

One of the most popular systems we sell is the Suzzara Blue system from Piusi shown above.

This pump is made of materials that will not be affected by the corrosive urea solution and its operation will not be affected by the buildup of crystalline urea.
